Entrepreneurs live in a world driven by passion and the thrill of generating ideas and running with them. However 90% of all entrepreneurship ventures fail. Businesses fail for a variety of reasons but the largest percentage of them fail because they design services and products that no one wants – yet paradoxically the same product or service may be doing well for the competition!
Successful entrepreneurs too need coaches. Post the initial struggle and euphoria of setting up the business and seeing it grow, entrepreneurs get sucked into the daily grind of running the business and serving clients. This leaves little or no room for them to take a step back, take stock or think strategically.
A coach steps in to help individuals see the big picture – from an outsider’s point of view, to helping reveal areas of potential that never pursued or help navigate through those hard to spot blind spots.
For the coaching sessions to be effective it is important that the coachee is must be clear on what problems they are really trying to solve. Some may want an outsider’s perspective to look at the bigger picture, to step back and develop a strategic vision that people can align to, yet some others may want to feel ‘accountable’, to be held by their own performance, to break the mould.
